2024 Nissan Pathfinder is a family-friendly 3-row midsize SUV with a trail-ready look backed by an advanced all-wheel-drive system and greater towing capacity than most of its competitors.
Not only that, Nissan’s serious intention is also to produce an off-pavement 2024 Nissan Pathfinder sharpness this year by adding a dedicated off-road Rock Creek model with a comfortable cabin and a spacious third row, and the long list of desirable features and technologies is a bigger attraction for some. big buyers.
Honestly, we were expecting a nicer change from the previous year, featuring an off-road-tuned suspension, off-road surround-view camera, and a 5/8-inch taller ride. It also gets 18-inch beadlock-style alloy wheels. Other enhancements include a tubular roof rack, a unique front grille and fascia, and special upholstery fabric.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Review
The three-row Pathfinder is Nissan’s second-largest SUV, positioned between the mid-sized two-row Murano and the larger three-row Fleet in its lineup. The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is currently in its fifth generation, having been redesigned for the 2022 model year.
Just one year after its reveal, the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder changes may include the addition of minor features to various trims and special edition models.
We’re big fans of the fifth-generation 2024 Nissan Pathfinder rugged face and modernized cab, which is quieter and generally more spacious than the last model. Getting in and out is easier thanks to improvements such as doors that open wider and the second-row captain’s seat which features an electric discharge that lifts and tilts the entire seat forward—even with an empty child seat attached—providing a 10-inch wide opening in the floor for easy access. go to the third row. The ride is steady but intolerable and this SUV’s AWD system is more capable than what we’ve had before.
The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder will likely get a 284-horsepower 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V-6 and a nine-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and paddle steering. This SUV is offered in FWD or AWD versions.
The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is also expected to get standard blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic monitor, automatic emergency braking, rear automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning. Upgrade to a higher trim with adaptive cruise control, 360-degree view camera system, lane control, traffic sign recognition and Nissan’s advanced ProPilot Assist driving assistance system.
2024 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek
The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition is an upgrade in looks, off-road tires and suspension, plus a little extra power that continues the wave of off-road light crossovers (or, in the case of a minivan).
Rock Creek appears to be a bit more successful than what was essentially a simple performance pack of the past. The Rock Creek Pathfinder actually gets an off-road tuned suspension.
Its small 0.6-inch lift 2024 Nissan Pathfinder helps accommodate the shiny black 18-inch wheels that look like beadlocks wrapped in Toyo Open Country 265/60 R18 all-terrain tires.
The resulting 7.7-inch clearance is still a full inch shorter than the stock Subaru Ascent (and less than some other crossovers), though at least the tires will provide better traction from the curb and an aesthetic foundation for the rest of the package.
The Rock Creek gets a tubular roof rack, which further helps strengthen the look while providing extra space to store up to 220 pounds of luggage or gear when you need to disappear into the wilderness for a few weeks. Up front is the exclusive fascia for this special edition, with a unique grille featuring mesh inserts in glossy black to match the wheels.
LED fog lights are standard, while the standard crane hitch receiver and harness are good for towing up to 6,000 pounds (an above average amount for a three-row crossover). Of course, there’s a Rock Creek badge on the outside, with glossy black lettering and an orange mountain logo, to let other drivers know that this is no ordinary 2024 Nissan Pathfinder.
All black Rock Creek cut and orange accents look great with our two-tone solid tester gray and black paint scheme.
Surprisingly, there’s even been a slight powertrain upgrade for Rock Creek. Revised fuel mapping means the 3.5-liter V6 can produce a total of 295 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, up from the standard 284 hp and 259 lb-ft.
Nissan says you’ll have to use premium fuel to reach those boosted numbers, but the vehicle will run just fine on regular gasoline. Four-wheel drive is standard along with the same drive modes as every other all-wheel drive 2024 Nissan Pathfinder — Standard, Sport, Eco, Snow, Sand, Mud/Rut, and Tow.

Inside, Rock Creek gets faux leather upholstery with fabric inserts, as well as an orange Rock Creek logo embroidered onto the seatbacks. They do a great job of blending support: the firmer faux leather supports a good job in the bends while the cushioned comfort of the fabric centerpiece is great for long rides.
Look around and you’ll see contrasting orange stitching on the seats, dashboard, center console, door panels and steering wheel, plus another embroidered Rock Creek emblem on the center console armrests. The second row gets the standard captain’s seat with a removable center console.
The car’s 360-degree parking camera doubles as an off-road monitor, automatically projecting a camera feed on the 8-inch infotainment screen (which is Pathfinder’s base unit — SL and up get a 9-inch unit with navigation) whenever you switch to Mud/Rut mode. or sand. All of this comes at a price of $44,115, including a $1,295 destination fee.
That puts Rock Creek right in the middle of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder lineup, between the all-wheel-drive SV and SL trims. While we didn’t really miss the SL features like navigation, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay (wired CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the range), power liftgate or traffic sign recognition, we didn’t mind opting for extras like a heated steering wheel or 120 volt plug.
The latter in particular seems like something that will come in handy on the kind of outdoor adventure this particular version should be meant for. And surely some adventurers will miss the chance to get a panoramic sunroof too.
Rock Creek tuned off-road suspension does no harm in terms of ride comfort or stability, and absorbs road imperfections well. Also none of the extra squats and dives you might get on a Toyota 4Runner. When the sidewalks start to curve, the Rock Creek dynamics don’t fall apart—rather, they hold up very well.
A chassis setup that properly manages road imperfections does a great job of managing body roll. Your passengers don’t have to stick their fingernails into the armrests the legs stay embedded in their seats.
What you get from this off-road setup is tire roar. It’s not the kind of annoying sound you get from the Subaru Forester Wilderness, which can give you the feeling of rolling down the highway in a can.
It’s more of a flat hum that provides a sense of comfort, letting you know that the prominent tread and high sidewalls are there to help you crawl past anything that might come your way once you get off the highway and turn onto a country back road.
For that extra power, we’ll take Nissan’s word for it. The 11 horsepower and 11 pound-feet of torque (and only when charged at a premium) don’t really register in terms of ride feel, but it seems enough to get the 4,605 pound vehicle moving without complaint.
As for fuel economy, Rock Creek suffers a bit. At 20 miles per gallon city, highway 23 mpg and 21 combined, it’s just a midge below the SV 4WD’s 21/27/23 mpg and the SL’ 4WD’s 20/25/22 mpg.
Now, if you take a closer look at the photos here, you might notice some funky stuff — specifically the uneven material around the embroidery in this tester. Keep in mind, this is a pre-production version and such literal and figurative wrinkles are usually ironed on the production line.
And, yes, while this new Rock Creek Edition has a bit more functionality than that of the last generation 2024 Nissan Pathfinder, the looks are still probably the most important part of the pack. And this vehicle really earns in that department.
Even if the furthest off-road it gets is the lawn parking lot at the county fair, it still looks good enough to attract admiring comments from fellow exhibit-goers.
2024 Nissan Pathfinder Interior
On the inside the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder provides a 2-3-3 seating configuration with a removable center console. With the standard center bench in place, the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder seating capacity is eight.
The interior of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder looks modern and spacious, highlighted by the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel available with several screen options. The available 10.8-inch heads-up display allows the driver to view functions such as vehicle speed and navigation directions at the rear of the windshield.
Also available is a 9-inch color touchscreen (8-inch screen standard) that is positioned high on the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder center console and within easy reach of the driver and front passenger. Equipped with uniquely shaped air vents that interlock into the soft surface of the dashboard.
An electronic shifter rests on a bridge-style center console with practical storage space underneath.
Fabrics and leather upholstery are available in a variety of colors, and there are seven 2024 Nissan Pathfinder interior environments available. For example, one features brushed bronze metallic accents. Ambient interior lighting adds to the comfort of the cabin, while four USB ports and a pair of 12-volt power outlets add practicality.
The second row of seats has a one-touch release, allowing the seat to be folded and shifted forward. This makes it easy to get in/out for the third row.
Behind the rear bench is enough space for a 120 liter cooler or four golf bags. We were impressed that, with both rows folded, 2024 Nissan Pathfinder was able to carry multiple sheets of 4×8 plywood flat on the floor without awkward corners.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Exterior
Nissan tells us that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder design is inspired by adventure gear, styled to look strong and capable. It does so with a more blunt face, flatter hood, wider stance, prominent fender flares, and reduced front and rear overhangs. The bigger tires also add to the rugged look of the SUV.
The company’s V-Motion grille is there, no doubt it’s a Nissan. Additionally, the three slots at the top of the grille quietly pay homage to those used on the original 1986 Pathfinder hood. Also paying homage to the beloved first 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is the floating C-pillar, which mimics the angle seen in the original side window.
Exterior design elements include available two-tone paint schemes. Standard LED headlights include sleek top daytime running lights. Adding to the muscular look are the U-shaped side design elements that connect the strong fender blisters.
On the back, the new 2024 Nissan Pathfinder has a boxy look with a slim but wide LED taillight. You can’t miss the word Pathfinder, clearly emblazoned on the elevator doors in large satin chrome letters.
Fourteen colors and color combinations are available in 2024 Nissan Pathfinder, including five new two-tone treatments. The Scarlet Bucket with Super Black Metallic looks really good, as does the Obsidian Green Pear outdoors.
Our Favorite Features And Technologies
EZ Flex Seats
We are still amazed at how easy it is to operate this feature. With one touch, the middle row seats can be removed, folded forward and shifted for easy access to the third row seats.
ProPilot Assist
Nissan’s semi-autonomous driver assistance system marries adaptive cruise control with steering assistance. This allows 2024 Nissan Pathfinder to accelerate, steer, and brake on its own under certain conditions.
Surround-View Camera
Standard starting from the SL trim, this system creates a wide 360 degree view of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder and the surrounding area for easy parking jobs. In its Rock Creek app, it also shows the terrain directly in front of the vehicle when you shift to 4WD. We found it very helpful in our off-road testing, reducing the need for a rangefinder to direct us around difficult terrain.
Hands-Free Power Liftgate
If you’ve ever tried to open a rear liftgate with your hands full of packages or grocery bags, you’ll appreciate this feature as much as we do. As long as you have a key fob, the hatch automatically opens with a swipe of your foot under the rear bumper.
Bose Audi System
Optional in the SL and standard in the high-end Platinum, this 13-speaker audio system includes a subwoofer. It made us feel like we were in a concert hall.
Digital Gauge Cluster
Fully digital, this 12.3-inch cluster comes standard in the Platinum trim. We can switch between different pieces of information. For example, alerts, settings, sound system information, and security systems.

Standard Features
The Nissan 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is available in S, SV, SL, Rock Creek and Platinum trim levels. Overall except for Rock Creek, 2WD is standard, and 4WD is the $1,900 option. Rock Creek comes standard with 4WD. Every 2024 Nissan Pathfinder comes with the same V6 engine and 9-speed automatic transmission.
The equipment in the base model S is quite generous with safety and infotainment technology. You get the NissanConnect system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. We commend Nissan for including the Safety Shield 360 suite of safety technologies in every 2024 Nissan Pathfinder.
Bundled with the Safety Shield 360 are front and rear automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
As you move up through the various trim levels, you add the semi-autonomous driving system ProPilot Assist, which uses adaptive cruise control and steering assist to make driving on the highway easier.
Wi-Fi, NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM, and an enhanced 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay. Unfortunately, there is no wireless Android Auto. You also get a 360-degree surround-view camera.
Finally, in a top-of-the-line Platinum class, Nissan adds a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster, a 10.8-inch heads-up display, wireless charging, semi-aniline leather seats, and more.
How big is Nissan Pathfinder 2024?
2024 Nissan Pathfinder is basically the same size on the outside as the Palisade, Telluride, Subaru Ascent, etc.
The differences inside are more noticeable, especially in the third row where the seats are a little closer to the floor than the ones you’ll find mentioned above and therefore less spacious and comfortable.
However, Nissan’s way of getting back there is better than most, as the second row doesn’t just slide forward at the touch of a button (that’s pretty common), but does it in a way that gives more room to fit into the third row. -row and allows you to keep the child seat facing forward. That could easily seal the deal for some.
Cargo space behind the raised third row measures 16.6 cubic feet. On paper, that would make it barely better than the disappointing Toyota Highlander, but in practice, the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder boxy shape and useful underfloor storage really help it carry more stuff than its specs suggest.
We could fit four medium sized suitcases back there plus a duffel bag under the floor . It measures 45 cubic feet with the third row lowered and 80.5 with both rear rows lowered, which is large enough that the differences with competitors shouldn’t matter too much.
2024 Nissan Pathfinder Technology
The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder also includes automatic LED headlights, a 7.0-inch cluster display, a three-zone climate control system with second-row control for rear passengers, and USB ports in the first two rows of seats. Infotainment highlights include the standard 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and six speakers.
Moving up through the range unlocks features like heated front seats, a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, auto-dimming mirrors, and wireless Apple CarPlay. In the top-tier 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum, standard equipment includes hands-free power lift doors, heated and cooled front seats, heated outboard second-row seats and wireless smartphone charging.
Nissan also provides Platinum owners with a premium 13-speaker Bose audio system, a configurable 12.3-inch digital meter cluster, and USB ports on all three rows.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Engine
Engine & Transmission: A 3.5-liter V6 makes 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque every 2024 Nissan Pathfinder. Also standard is a 9-speed automatic transmission.
With a tow package, the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder has a best-in-class towing capacity of 6,000 pounds. The only direct competitor that comes close is the Ford Explorer, which can tow up to 5,600 pounds, while the Kia Telluride can now raise 5,500 pounds. This opens up what you can pull with a midsize 3-row crossover, like the smaller RV that starts at around 5,200 pounds.
The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder power, torque and fuel economy are all average for this class.
- 3.5-liter V6
- 284 horsepower @ 6,400 rpm
- Torque 259 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm
- EPA combined fuel economy: 23 mpg (20 city, 27 highway) 4WD: 23 mpg (21 city, 27 highway) Rock Creek AWD: 21 mpg (20 city, 23 highway) SL/Platinum AWD: 22 mpg ( 20 cities, 25 highways)
2024 Nissan Pathfinder MPG
Like its other competitors, there’s only one engine on offer: a good 3.5-liter V6 for a competitive 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque.
It is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and standard front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive. Fuel economy is 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined with FWD.
Oddly enough, AWD fuel economy is actually better in the city, but effectively the same: 27-21/23. The AWD Platinum trim drops to 20/25/22, while the Rock Creek Edition and its all-terrain tires drop further to 20/23/21. All of these numbers are typical for the segment.
With the available tow hitch, the Nissan Pathfinder can tow 6,000 pounds, which is more than the 5,000 pound segment norm.
